If you’re a trucker who likes to write, your hobby might earn you $1,000, enough money to get some of those chrome accessories for your truck. The Mark Twain Essay Contest, sponsored by etrucker.com, is open to all truckers and their immediate families. Truckers have to write about trucking or something to do with life on the road. Whether you write a romantic story of a trucker falling in love, or an essay about a sad or hard time in your career, your essay could be among the winners. Truckers can write a fiction or nonfiction piece no longer than 2,000 words, a little over six pages double-spaced, and enter it in the contest for a chance to win. First place essays win a prize of $1,000, while second place earns $500, and third place $250. Honorable mentions will also win a free one-year subscription to Trucker’s News. Winning entries will even be published in the magazine.
Winners will be determined by those who spend much of their time writing about trucking, the editorial board of Trucker’s News.
