While looks don’t always matter, there are times when they do, especially when a person wants to make a good impression. The same is true for trucks. A clean, shining, truck with a host of chrome features that looks unconquerable makes it seem like you can get the job done. If you’re an owner operator looking to impress, then Mack’s Pinnacle Rawhide Edition might be right for you.

Mack calls the edition, which is now available across all product lines, a combination of chrome and comfort. Truckers who purchase these exquisite editions of trucks will experience a vehicle that is strong enough, smart enough, comfortable enough, and impressive enough to make any job easier.

Technologically, the truck has every amenity that modern advancement has to offer. AM/FM weather band radios, CD players, with an upgrade to satellite radio, and Mack Co-Pilot LCD display make long trips easier to navigate and more entertaining.

On the inside, the plush interior, leather steering wheel, and brushed nickel dash panel, as well as the color options, allow drivers to feel like they’re working in luxury. And if you’re on the road for most of your life, why not make yourself as comfortable? The comfort continues with the upholstered living area and its skull and horns emblem, embossed on the back wall of the sleeper.

Outside the truck, bullhorn exhaust pipes, chrome, and an aluminum cab entrance make the truck look impressive and solid. Truckers who view this truck from the highway or at a truck stop will be sure to stop and stare.

According to Mack, this truck has comforts that far exceed the norm, and is perfect for the fleet owner who wants to keep his or her drivers happy. Truckers who see this vehicle as their home away from home probably won’t pass up the opportunity. While the truck is a tool intended to do a job, making it comfortable and impressive is not without reason. Truckers who want to look their best while doing their best work can choose any from the Pinnacle Collections, which come with the strength, durability, and reliability of a Mack, so it’s ready for hard work or the truck show.

Buying Used Trucks

For many truckers and those looking to become involved in the trucking industry, a used truck is a cost-effective and practical way of getting into or investing in the trucking business. But although many web sites hale the benefits of buying a used truck, truckers who choose this option should act with care. While good deals are certainly to be found, truckers should not be hasty. The fact of the matter is that trucking is a specialized field, and many trucks are specialized, which might make them difficult to apply to your business. Also, many used trucks have been run hard and constantly, so being sure that you get a truck with a lot of life still in it is important.

For instance, box trucks are usually available with hydraulic lifts, ramps, and other accessories that might be beneficial or necessary to you. If you’re searching for a used truck you want to make sure that the truck is not so old that these accessories are not standard if you need them. In addition, you will need to make compromises when you purchase a used truck, but you must be sure that these compromises that are not essential to what you need in your truck. In other words, don’t get carried away by the price and advertisements, but make sure you actually get what you need.

Trucks also have other amenities, like heated seats, air conditioning, and stereo options that are a good place to start saving. Like cars, trucks that don’t have these amenities are usually cheaper, even when purchased used. It’s even cheaper, from time to time, to add your own features to the truck after the purchase than to buy them on a used model.

While used car sales are high, used truck sales aren’t quite as booming. That’s because many trucks are specialized, and truckers know that trucks are often run until they can barely limp by their previous owners. That being said, there are many good used trucks out there, and buying a used truck is probably the best bet for many truckers, but truckers need to be cautious when examining this option.

Magnet Phone Holder

You’ve probably seen them near the check out counter at your favorite truck stop next to the king size candy bars and stuffed toys. But magnet phone holders aren’t simply impulse items that truck stop managers use to try to drive up their sales. Instead, magnet holders are smart, non-invasive ways of keeping cell phones and other electronics within arm’s reach.

The magnet holder sticks easily to the dashboard of any truck or personal vehicle via a mounting strip that is already affixed to the back of the magnet. All the trucker has to do is clean off the dashboard area of your truck and stick the magnet in place. Some brands even provide wet wipes to make the process even easier.

Using the same type of adhesive that is located on the back of the magnet phone holder, truckers stick a small, metal disk to the back of their cell phones. Because the disk is attached using the same type of adhesive that makes the magnet so non-invasive, it is easy to remove from your phone if you decide to stop using the magnet holder, but does not fall of on its own. Then, simply apply the metal disk to the magnet, and you have a strong, foolproof cell phone holder.

Instead of fiddling throughout your cab to look for your cell phone when you hear it ring, or if you need to make a call, the magnet holder makes grabbing that phone simple and easy. Not only will you save yourself some frustration as you simply reach for your dashboard to pick up the phone, but you’ll stop missing calls and you’ll drive safer, keeping your eyes on the road.

Not only does the cell phone holder make driving with a cell phone easier than ever, but also the same holder can be used with your Ipod. Simply attach the metal disk to your Ipod, and you have a custom Ipod holder. This way, you can toggle between songs without ever taking your eyes off the road.

Available at almost every truck stop, the holder can also be found at many online shops like TangShop, Ebay or Amazon . Priced around $5-$7, these holders are a fast, easy, and cheap way to get more organized. And your friends and family will thank you for the lack of missed calls.

National Truck Shows

With truckers on the road most of the summer, going to a national truck show might seem just as impossible to most truckers as going to the county fair. But with America’s Traveling Truck Show visiting seven states in six months, the odds that truckers will be able to swing by a location are much more favorable. In fact, the show’s website, www.travelingtruckshow.com, stated that many truckers were grateful for the traveling aspect of the show last year, as it allowed many to attend who would not have been able to because of work and time. With gas and diesel prices soaring, even truckers with a week off would probably not to be able to attend the show if it were stationary.

For truckers that are interested in buying a new model to those who just want to have a good time, the show, which will be stopping at various truck stops, will provide an excellent opportunity for truckers to take a break from the road and look at some new, impressive trucks.

This May, the truck show began its tour with stops in Missouri, an event that featured a Trucker’s appreciation event, free ice cream, and a pig roast. This month, the show has visited Illinois and Pennsylvania, and will be heading toward Virginia, Wisconsin, and Iowa in the next few months. But other than the food, music, and other entertainment, truckers interested in what’s new in the industry will want to check out the displays.

According to the show’s web site, the 2007 show made its way to twenty-seven centers bringing a variety of truck dealers representing almost every brand. These vendors showed the new models to eager truckers who were excited to take a peek, while other vendors displayed products and services that catered directly to truckers. This year, an extensive list of companies includes potential trucking employers, truck manufacturers like Volvo, trucking accessory vendors selling lubricants and tires, and truck servicing companies. An entire list of companies can be found by visiting the show’s web site.

But checking out trucks, trucking accessories, and trucking services isn’t the only motivator for heading out to one of the shows. Last year, one grand prize winner, Ronald Steele, was given an enormous door prize consisting of a 2007 Harley-Davidson and several other valuables, according to etrucker.com. This year, the show’s sponsors will be giving away a trucker’s dream package, including VIP tickets to any NASCAR event. In order to win, truckers only have to attend a show, have a CDL, and register. In addition to the grand prize, truckers can also win other prizes from accessory vendors.

With several stops across seven states this summer, America’s Traveling Truck Show is making it easier for truckers to come have a good time and check out the newest products and services in the agency at the same time. Even truckers who aren’t interested in buying a new model can enjoy the show’s food, entertainment, and giveaways. A complete schedule of events, locations, and vendors can be found by visiting the show’s web site.
